Big River Cray Clean-up Event #2
September 20 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Free
Volunteering is a great way to get close to nature, feel involved in your local river and to boost your physical and mental health.
Description: The South East Rivers Trust, Thames21, The Cray Forums members, London Fire Brigade and volunteers will be turning out again for the second Big River Cray Cleanup event – where we will be working in the river and bankside to remove rubbish and fly tipped items from the Cray River.
This will involve working at appropriate depths for waders and wellies, with litter pickers, bag hoops, protective gloves, hi-visibility vests, and eye protection (if required). A full introduction and Health & Safety briefing will be provided on site, to all participants on the day. The London Fire Brigade will be assisting with the litter pick by covering the publicly inaccessible sections such as the weirs and canalised sections.
Where to meet: Beside the River at the top end of New Mill Road, Crayfields Estate, St Pauls Cray, Kent BR5 3QD.
What to bring: Refreshments and lunch. All equipment, including waders and gloves, will be provided. Just wear some stout footwear and appropriate (ideally old) clothing.
