Project overview

Project Kingfisher is our schools education programme, designed to connect young people with their local rivers through engaging, hands-on experiences.

Children who feel connected to nature are happier, healthier and more motivated to learn. By taking learning outdoors, we help pupils build confidence, curiosity and a deeper understanding of the natural world.

Designed by a qualified teacher, our sessions are closely linked to the science and geography curriculum — covering rivers, water flow, habitats and wildlife.

Where we work

We deliver sessions across key catchments in the South East, including:

We are also expanding our programme into the River Loddon catchment — working with schools in Wokingham, Chineham and surrounding areas.

Here, pupils explore rivers such as the Emm Brook and Petty’s Brook, learning how these watercourses connect within the wider catchment and why they matter.
